Will be a dark horse: Newcastle to sneak up and sign £60M player this summer – journalist
The Profit and Sustainability rules are posing challenges for the Magpies. Yet, as the wealthiest club globally, the Tyneside team can never be discounted in any transfer tussle.
On the mufcMPB YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs delved into Michael Olise’s future at Crystal Palace, mentioning Newcastle as unexpected contenders to sign him, alongside Chelsea and Manchester United.
Michael Olise of Crystal Palace reacts during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa at Selhurst Park on May 19, 2024, in London.
Jacobs discussed Olise’s future, suggesting Newcastle could be in the mix for the Frenchman’s signature.
“Chelsea and Manchester United seem to be leading the race, but Newcastle, if they secure funds, say from Bruno Guimaraes moving to Manchester City, could emerge as dark horses. Olise is in no rush,” Jacobs noted.
Olise as a marquee signing
Newcastle United often makes at least one headline-grabbing signing each summer, and Olise might be that player this time.
Olise is among the Premier League’s most promising young attackers. If he joins Newcastle, Eddie Howe’s team could boast the most thrilling front three in the league.
Imagine Olise, Alexander Isak, and Anthony Gordon spearheading the attack. This trio’s blend of speed, skill, and youthful audacity could trouble any defense worldwide.
As Jacobs pointed out, Newcastle aren’t the frontrunners for Olise, but they’re definitely worth watching in this contest.
Manchester United and Chelsea are eager to outmaneuver the Magpies for Olise’s signature. However, with their financial clout, Newcastle could outbid their rivals and clinch the deal.
The £60 million talent seems set for a move this summer, but his destination remains uncertain.
