Watch Harvey Barnes stretching keeper brilliant goal vs Spurs – Positives & negatives in Seoul

It’s half-time at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, where Newcastle United are taking on Tottenham Hotspur in our final game of our Asia tour.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring after just three minutes, scoring from 20 yards via a big deflection from Dan Burn, before Harvey Barnes levelled before the break with a lovely strike.
Watch his strike below, followed by our positives and negatives midway through the match in Seoul:
Positives
- Anthony Gordon has been sharp and full of energy in a false nine role. Set up Barnes’ goal on the break, fired one effort just wide, forced errors with his pressing and created one chance almost tapped in by Joelinton.
- Plenty of possession and territory after a poor start, with Newcastle having 67% of the ball in the first 45.
- Brilliant ball from Bruno to cross for Joelinton, who was arriving into the box well.
- More energetic and much the better side for the final 20 minutes of the first half.
- A good stop from Nick Pope to stand up tall and deny Tel after Targett’s error.
Negatives
- A slow and sluggish start. Murphy shrugged off the ball, Miley slow to react and Pope not the quickest to get down to Johnson’s strike.
- Matt Targett poor. Allowed Tel to get clean through on goal, showing a lack of pace or physicality. Looks slow and well off the pace.
- Back four looks slow. No surprise with Trippier, Schar, Burn and Targett, but it’s an issue we must address.
- Joelinton could’ve scored twice. Arriving into the box well, but nothing to show for it after heading a big chance wide. Strong as an ox off the ball, but a little sloppy on it.
- A mixed half for Lewis Miley. Perhaps harsh to put in the ‘negative’ category, but must sharpen up off the ball if he’s to cover Sandro Tonali in that deeper role. Needs to get a little stronger and track runners.
