Newcastle United are poised to entertain offers for midfielder Sean Longstaff this summer, according to sources from Football Insider.

Newcastle United have set a price tag of £20 million for Sean Longstaff, aiming to generate pure profit from his transfer under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

However, any potential deal is unlikely to materialize before June 30th, coinciding with the club’s annual account cutoff.

Longstaff, who is under contract until the summer of 2025, would be available for a free transfer next year if he does not extend his contract. Therefore, Newcastle views this transfer window as the ideal time to capitalize on his market value.

In May, Football Insider reported that Longstaff, an academy graduate, envisions his long-term future at St. James’ Park.

Despite this, the club is considering selling him to reinvest the proceeds into Eddie Howe’s squad. The opportunity to bolster the squad with significant signings makes the sale of Longstaff a strategic move for the Magpies.

Despite Newcastle’s willingness to sell, Sean Longstaff remains a key player for the team. Last season, he made 46 appearances across all competitions, contributing eight goals.

Since making his senior debut for his boyhood club in December 2018, Longstaff has accumulated 172 appearances, showcasing his importance to the squad.

However, the club’s ambition to inject further quality and secure Champions League football necessitates strategic transfers.

Football Insider has revealed that Newcastle is in advanced discussions to sign England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin. This move exemplifies their proactive approach in the transfer market.

The addition of Calvert-Lewin would be a significant upgrade, reinforcing the squad’s capabilities for the upcoming season.

Sean Longstaff might not be the only notable departure from Tyneside this summer. Newcastle United is also considering the sale of Callum Wilson.

The 32-year-old striker could command a fee exceeding £15 million, but his sale hinges on securing Calvert-Lewin’s signature.

This strategic move aligns with the club’s goal to enhance the squad while managing financial sustainability.

Newcastle United’s transfer strategy this summer highlights a delicate balance between maintaining a competitive squad and adhering to financial objectives.

The potential sale of Sean Longstaff, alongside the possible acquisition of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, demonstrates the club’s commitment to strategic planning and squad enhancement.

As the transfer window progresses, the Magpies’ decisions will significantly shape their prospects for the upcoming season.
