Newcastle United make €15m bid – Magpies ‘accelerate’ to get ahead of competition

Newcastle United have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele, with reports indicating the Magpies have already opened talks to secure the Frenchman’s signature this summer.
The versatile 27-year-old, capable of playing both right-back and center-back, spent the past season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he featured in 24 matches across all competitions, accumulating over 1,500 minutes of playing time.
Despite his contributions in Germany, Mukiele is not part of Luis Enrique’s long-term plans at PSG, with sporting director Luis Campos making it clear that the defender will be allowed to leave.
His impending departure has sparked significant interest across Europe, with clubs from Turkey’s Süper Lig—Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş—as well as Premier League sides Everton and Aston Villa, along with Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, all monitoring the situation.

However, Newcastle appear determined to move quickly and gain an early advantage in the race for his signature.
Eddie Howe’s side have reportedly submitted an opening bid of €15 million, though it remains unclear whether PSG will accept the offer.
Mukiele’s current contract runs until 2027, and while Transfermarkt values him at €10 million, the Parisian club may hold out for a higher fee given the competition for his services.
Newcastle’s interest in Mukiele aligns with their need for defensive reinforcements, particularly a player who can provide cover in multiple positions.
His experience in top European leagues, combined with his physicality and tactical adaptability, makes him an attractive option for a Magpies side looking to strengthen ahead of another demanding season.
Should the deal progress, Mukiele would add depth to Newcastle’s backline, offering competition for Kieran Trippier at right-back while also serving as a reliable option in central defense.
With several clubs circling, the Magpies will need to act decisively to fend off rival interest and finalize what could prove to be a shrewd piece of business.
As negotiations continue, all eyes will be on whether Newcastle can secure their man and bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
