Lewis Hall delivers surprise fitness update as Newcastle United star makes up for Wembley agony

The roar of the Wembley crowd, the euphoria of lifting the trophy, the sheer joy of ending Newcastle United’s long wait for silverware—Lewis Hall should have been at the heart of it all. Instead, the young left-back watched from the sidelines, sidelined by a cruel injury that robbed him of his moment in the spotlight.
Hall suffered a broken bone in his foot during Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat at Anfield earlier this year, an injury severe enough for the club to initially rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Missing the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool was a bitter pill to swallow, especially given his growing influence in Eddie Howe’s squad. Yet, despite the setback, his determination to return stronger has never wavered.
Though still on crutches, Hall made sure to share in the celebrations during Newcastle’s victory parade, where thousands of fans gathered to salute their heroes.
Lifting the trophy in front of the Toon Army was a moment of redemption for the 19-year-old, who admitted the frustration of being unable to join his teammates at Wembley.

“I’m feeling good,” Hall said during the parade. “Obviously, I wasn’t able to celebrate with the team, so being able to do it here, I was buzzing. I’m doing well, so hopefully, I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
His recovery has progressed better than expected, with surgery putting him on the right track. While the club initially feared he wouldn’t play again this season, Hall hasn’t ruled out an earlier return, offering a glimmer of hope that he could feature before the campaign concludes on May 25 against Everton.
Eddie Howe, who has been vocal in his support for the England youth international, expressed his devastation at Hall’s absence during such a pivotal moment.
“We’re really disappointed for Lewis—we’re devastated for him,” Howe admitted. “He had so much to look forward to: the cup final, potential international call-ups, and he was in really good form. It’s a big blow for him and for us.”
Despite the setback, the Newcastle squad made sure Hall still felt part of the triumph. After their dramatic 2-1 victory over Liverpool, the players FaceTimed him from the Wembley dressing room, a touching gesture that underlined the tight-knit spirit within the group.
Now, as Hall continues his rehabilitation, the focus shifts to his long-term future at St. James’ Park. His loan move from Chelsea includes an obligation to buy, and if his early performances are anything to go by, he could become a key figure in Newcastle’s backline for years to come.
For now, though, his priority is regaining full fitness. The pain of missing out on Wembley will linger, but the prospect of returning stronger—and helping Newcastle chase further success—will drive him forward.
The Toon Army will be waiting, ready to welcome him back with the same passion that carried their team to glory.
