Fabrizio Romano shock Tottenham, delivers major update on Newcastle swap deal ahead of deadline

With the summer transfer window racing toward its final hours, Tottenham Hotspur remains active behind the scenes, exploring opportunities to add more depth and quality to Thomas Frank’s squad.
The North London club is aiming to make two or three more signings before the deadline, targeting reinforcements in several key areas including the wing, attacking midfield, and central defense.
At the same time, the club is also working on streamlining the squad, with exits planned for players including Yves Bissouma and highly-regarded young defender Luka Vuskovic.
Amid all this activity, one of the more persistent rumors has involved Brazilian striker Richarlison.
Despite his excellent start to the season he’s started both Premier League matches ahead of Dominic Solanke and played a key role in the impressive victory over Manchester City talk of a potential departure has continued to circulate.
Some reports even suggested he could be used as part of a swap deal, with Newcastle United showing interest as they grow increasingly desperate to sign a proven number nine.

Newcastle’s need for a striker is clear. The ongoing absence of Alexander Isak, who is still pushing for a move away from the club, and the decision to allow Callum Wilson to join West Ham have left Eddie Howe with very few options up front.
The club has seen bids for Yoane Wissa and Wolves’ Jørgen Strand Larsen rejected, leading them to explore other possibilities, including a bold move for Richarlison.
However, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, this proposed deal is not going to happen.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Romano made it clear that while rumors about Richarlison leaving seem to surface every transfer window, a move away from Tottenham is highly unlikely this time.
He emphasized that the player is very happy at the club and that manager Thomas Frank is equally pleased with his contributions both on and off the pitch.
Romano also specifically addressed the Newcastle rumors, stating that talk of a player-exchange deal is wide of the mark.
This sense of stability is reinforced by the player himself and his manager. Frank revealed that on his very first day at the club, Richarlison personally came to his office to confirm his commitment to Tottenham, expressing his desire to stay and fight for his place.
That kind of attitude has set the tone for his season so far. Frank has described him as a “very committed player” who is training hard and fully focused on helping the team succeed.
There’s also a major personal incentive for Richarlison to enjoy a strong season. The World Cup is on the horizon, and he will be determined to secure his place in the Brazil squad.
A late move to a new club, with all the disruption that involves, would be a major risk at this critical stage of his career.
Staying at Tottenham, where he is valued and playing regularly, gives him the best possible platform to perform at his best.
For now, it appears that Richarlison will remain a key part of Thomas Frank’s plans. Tottenham’s focus will be on adding new players in other positions, while also managing the departures of those who are surplus to requirements.
The coming days will be busy, but one thing seems certain: Richarlison will still be wearing a Tottenham shirt when the transfer window closes.
