Bruno Guimaraes is savoring his last few days off before rejoining his Newcastle United teammates for pre-season training. The 26-year-old midfielder, who played in the Copa America with Brazil, was granted extra time off before the new campaign.

This week, Guimaraes has been back in Brazil. On Friday night, he was spotted with West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta at a baby shower for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

Both Guimaraes and Paqueta, along with their partners, attended the event. Guimaraes shared a photo on Instagram featuring himself, Paqueta, and Ederson, along with a congratulatory message: “Congratulations brother Ederson, may Matteo come in good health.”

Reports from January indicated that Newcastle’s head of recruitment, Steve Nickson, scouted Ederson during Atalanta’s 5-0 victory over Frosinone. While a move was rumored, Newcastle did not sign any players that month due to pressures to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Ederson’s name has since fallen off Newcastle’s radar this summer as the club focuses on other targets.

With Sandro Tonali returning in August and Guimaraes staying put after his £100 million release clause expired, signing a midfielder is not currently a priority for Newcastle. Instead, the club is focusing on acquiring a center-back and a forward.

“I think Bruno’s going to stay,” Joelinton told reporters in Germany last week. “He tells me he’s going to come back next week (from a post-Copa America break) and get ready for the season. I know him, he loves the club. He loves the fans, he enjoys his life in Newcastle. I think he’s glad to be there for his life as well as for football. I hope my (on-field) relationship with Bruno can help get me back into the national team but my first focus is Newcastle.”

Guimaraes is expected to link up with Newcastle United for their trip to Tokyo next week. The Magpies will face Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F.Marinos in pre-season matches. His return will be a significant boost for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Guimaraes has been a key player for Newcastle United, and his return will be eagerly anticipated by fans and teammates alike.

His performance in the Copa America showcased his talent and determination, and he is expected to play a crucial role in Newcastle’s campaign. The midfielder’s ability to control the game and create opportunities makes him an invaluable asset to the team.

Newcastle United has ambitious goals for the upcoming season, aiming to compete at the highest levels in the Premier League and beyond. The return of key players like Guimaraes and the potential acquisition of new talents will be vital for achieving these objectives. The club’s strategic focus on strengthening its squad in critical areas reflects its commitment to building a competitive and successful team.
