Sky Sports asked which best striker signing of Sesko, Gyokeres, Woltemade – Votes now counted

The summer transfer window is always a time of great excitement and debate for football fans. When a club spends a significant amount of money on a new striker, the pressure is immediate.

The player becomes a symbol of the club’s ambition, and every touch, every run, and every shot is analyzed in great detail.

This season, three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs made major investments to lead their attacks, and it didn’t take long for the comparisons to begin.

Arsenal went for the proven, ready-made talent, bringing in 27-year-old Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon in a deal that could reach £64 million.

He is a physical, powerful striker who had been scoring goals consistently in Portugal. Manchester United opted for a player with an incredibly high potential ceiling, signing 22-year-old Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for a fee around £73 million.

He is seen as a star for the future, with all the physical tools to become a top striker. Then there was Newcastle United, who broke their club transfer record to sign 23-year-old Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £69 million.

He arrived with a reputation as a dynamic and intelligent forward, but with the difficult task of replacing a fan favorite.

With the season now underway, the natural question has started to pop up in conversations in pubs and on social media: which of these three big-money signings is looking like the best piece of business so far?

This exact question was put to the public by Sky Sports News. They ran a poll, asking fans simply: ‘Which striker is looking the best buy?’ The three options were Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Nick Woltemade.

After thousands of votes were cast, the result was decisive. A total of 8,385 people voted, and the winner by a huge margin was Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade.

He secured a massive 66.6% of the total vote. This means that out of every ten people who voted, nearly seven of them believed the German striker has made the strongest early impression.

Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres finished in a distant second place with 23.5% of the vote, while Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko trailed with 10%.

This result is certainly a strong vote of confidence for Woltemade and the business Newcastle conducted. While fan polls are not a scientific measure of a player’s true ability, they are a clear snapshot of public perception.

Woltemade has clearly captured the imagination of the football-watching public with his start to life in England.

He has scored important goals, including a header against Arsenal, and has integrated into Eddie Howe’s team with a seamless confidence. His all-around play and clear eye for goal have made him an instant hit.

For the other two strikers, the poll is not an indictment, but rather a reflection of the early narrative.

The Premier League is a marathon, not a sprint, and opinions can change with one moment of brilliance. But for now, in the eyes of the fans, Newcastle’s record signing is the one who has made the most compelling early case for being the transfer of the summer.
